Tutorial on how to scan manually using the F-PROT Antivirus
Manual scan is where F-PROT Antivirus scans your computer with its default scan settings. By default, F-PROT Antivirus automatically disinfects or quarantines all files upon detection without user interaction.

Please note that F-PROT Antivirus automatically quarantines all infected/suspicious archives. To make sure that all archives are clean, you may need to decompress them and then scan all files manually. You can also send these archives to our virus laboratory for further testing. F-PROT Antivirus has options called "My computer", "Hard drives", "Removable media" and "Network", in addition to the option "Selected location". These scan task are group in the same way as Microsoft groups drives. You will notice that in Explorer then "My Computer" consists of "Hard Disk Drives", "Devices with Removable Storage" and "Network Drives".
Below are manual scanning options of F-PROT Antivirus with their respective description.
| Manual scan options | Description |
| My computer | Scans all contents of your computer such as local hard drives, removable media devices and network drives. |
| Hard drives | Scans all local hard drives. |
| Removable media | Scans all removable storage devices such as floppy disks, DVD drives, CD's and USB keys. |
| Network | Scans all network drives. |
| Selected Location | Select the particular files, folders or drives to scan. |
Note: Before you perform a full scan on your computer, please check for available updates to make sure you have the latest virus signature file running.
